THANK YOU!!! OMG PREACH IT!!! LOL
Seriously though, I can relate to you. I dropped out cuz my home life was crazy. I have always done well in school, but it was getting to the point where I was balancing schoolwork with home life and my mom bitching at me to get a job. I wanted to keep my sanity so I dropped out. Believe me, I thought of everything else to do first, but it just wasn’t possible. I couldn’t move out nor did I want to switch schools. Anyway, thanks for speaking the truth

…hmm…what if a ‘smart aleck’ decided
to change the ’5′ term to ’10/2′ … ? …
thus making all the terms fractions
with denominator 2…?

Unfortunately for some, having to drop out of high school isn’t a matter of not having been able to complete it. What happened with me was more of a personal problem in that I became ill and could not attend traditional schooling. Because of this, I feel it’s unfair for some to classify GED recipients under the same conditions as those who seem to lack appropriate grammar and have temper problems.

lol, thanks

I have to say that I respect you. I’m getting my GED, and am a HS drop out but I understand that a GED will make it harder for me to get into certain schools. Not all people who take the GED are simple (I mean, look at me, I LOVE grammar and math) but some are. They fail HS so they have to resort to another option: the GED. Both are fine, but a HS diploma can show that you can stick it out in tough times.
Your grammar is much better than poxflaza’s. Busting your ass paid off. =)

And it seems you need to get over yourself. Your insecurity issues become painfully evident. If it’s not such a big deal, why are you so passionate?
November 1st, 2009 at 8:49 pm
It’s not actually. And intellect like yours is proof of that.
I never said anyone who took the GED is retarded. I said the GED should be revised to make it more rigorous.
Yeah, I busted my ass in HS. And I got rewarded with an admission to one of the top universities for my undergrad.
Having a GED doesn’t make it impossible to go to reputed colleges. It just makes it harder.

Read carefully about my “degenerate” claim. I was comparing kids who dropped out to serve their country versus those who did it for selfish reasons. Obviously, homeschooled children and those who drop out because of the tribulations of life don’t fall under that category. It’s a connotative statement. Learn to read beneath the actual diction.
Nevertheless, I think the GED requirements should be much more stringent seeing as it serves as an interim diploma. Sometimes, one number isn’t enough.
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:03 am
you where so opposed to it (which you gave me). I said that situations are different from person to person. I’m taking the GED since I was taught at home through a private school. I’m not a degenerate who just parties and doesn’t care about my future. I’m taking the GED so I can obtain the Bright Futures Scholarship in Florida so I can go to college.
I responded because hate seeing people against it when I am taking it soon, when I feel it is just as good.
Like opinions, everyone has one, lol
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:54 am
You = “You’re just someone who reads but never understands. Looks like the GED didn’t help after all… ” boosh.
The theses thing I was not aware of. Thanks for the heads up though, since I will be attending soon. You learn something new every day!
Oh, I’m very aware that some people are really bad at spelling and grammar, lol. It really makes a language barrier, and that is why I do my best to type properly.
I wasn’t offering my thought of it, but I was commenting on the mistake and why …
November 2nd, 2009 at 3:07 am
If you actually read my original comment, I was ridiculing GED’s and not the people who take them.
And I’ll stress again that once I write something, I generally don’t look it over. You don’t use contractions in college theses, but here on the net, everything is permissible.
Some people don’t use any grammar or established syntax. Does that prove something?
Lastly, if that’s the best counterargument you can make, it only goes to prove just how ineffective GED really is.
November 2nd, 2009 at 3:56 am
This is true, but for someone to talk down about the GED and make a blatant grammatical error makes me chuckle pretty hard.
November 2nd, 2009 at 4:46 am
This is Youtube, not an English class.
I ridicule it because it’s ridiculous. 4 years in 6 hours!
November 2nd, 2009 at 5:03 am
“I’m go to a university”
Wait, what? For someone who is running their yapper about being stupid for taking the GED, you should proofread what you put on the internet.
Situations are different from person to person, so why ridicule someone for having their GED?
